Chung Po-yang (Po Chung)
Co-Founder and Chairman Emeritus, DHL International Ltd.

Background:
In 1972, Chung Po-yang (Po Chung) co-founded DHL International Ltd with DHL Airways Inc. of Calif. Today, the Hong Kong-based company operates the DHL Worldwide Network, a global market leader in providing innovative and customized solutions from a single source and offers expertise in express, air and ocean freight, overland transport and logistic solutions combined with a worldwide coverage of in-depth understanding of local markets.

The DHL Worldwide Network currently operates in 227 countries, employing over 53,000 people, runs a fleet of 12,203 vehicles, and owns and operates more than 209 aircrafts. It is the world’s leading air express company handling more than 100 million documents, parcels and freight a year across five continents.

Now retired from his executive role with DHL International, Chung has concentrated on numerous community-enhancing projects and initiatives. He regularly submits commentaries and essays on contemporary issues, has helped with core strategic planning activities with numerous NGOs from around the world, and has organized the Creative Initiatives Foundation, which provides numerous consultative and material resources for non-profit organizations.

Chung launched the Centre for Asian Entrepreneurship & Business Values at the University of Hong Kong, and in 2007, initiated a one-day program, The Good Life Initiative Seminar, designed to help baby-boomers with their transition into the “Third Age.” His latest project entails organizing a freshman liberal arts curriculum, to come to fruition in 2012 when Hong Kong’s eight universities convert from a three- to four-year undergraduate system.
