Timothy P. Flynn

Background:
Timothy P. Flynn serves as chairman of KPMG International and KPMG LLP, (its U.S. member firm). KPMG is a Big Four public accounting firm that provides audit, tax and advisory services and employs more than 135,000 professionals in more than 140 countries.
Flynn has held several leadership roles throughout his career at KPMG and is currently a client service partner for several of the firm’s largest clients.
Flynn is committed to creating a values-driven culture that helps fulfill KPMG’s “Promise of Professionalism” to its people, its clients and the capital markets it serves. Recently, he served on the Advisory Committee on the Auditing Profession, established by U.S. Secretary of the Treasury Henry M. Paulson, Jr., which made recommendations to foster a more sustainable auditing profession.
Prior to becoming chairman, Flynn served as Global Managing Partner Audit and Global Managing Partner for Human Resources, KPMG International. In these roles, he chaired the Global Audit and Human Resources Global Steering Groups, and was a member of KPMG International’s executive team.
Flynn began his career at KPMG in 1979, and became a partner in 1988. He was the Midwest Area Partner in charge of the Manufacturing, Retail and Distribution practice and served as engagement partner on a number of public and venture capital-funded high technology companies.
Currently, Flynn serves on the World Economic Forum’s International Business Council, the Business Roundtable’s Corporate Governance task force, the board of trustees of the Financial Accounting Foundation (FAF), and is a member of FAF’s Audit, Development and Strategic Planning committees. Flynn is also a member of the Committee to Encourage Corporate Philanthropy and the Advisory Board of Major League Baseball’s youth outreach program Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities, and serves on the board of trustees for the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minn., where he earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting.
Flynn has also spoken on leadership, ethics and integrity at several of colleges and universities including Howard, Fordham, Yale and the Wharton School of Business.
