Can you think of a reason to be thankful right now?
I’m not sure where you are in your life, but hopefully you have at least one reason to be thankful. It may take a little bit of digging to find something, or perhaps you are trying too hard. When we strive for a happy life, we may set our sights too high and ignore the little things that are all around us. Let’s take a moment to consider some areas you may have ignored in the past.
Do you have a place to live?
This may seem like a basic concern, but do you know how many people are homeless in the world? Not only that, but even some of the people with a place to live do not have all of the amenities that most of us take for granted. Having a roof over your head is an important reason to be thankful.
Did you eat your breakfast today?
Consider how many people don’t have enough food to sustain them. Just eating three meals a day can be a true sign of luxury for people who are in financial trouble. Sometimes food takes a back seat to some of the other concerns of life.
Do you have family and friends you can turn to for help?
Sometimes it may seem like there is no one you can turn too in troubles, but it is even harder to exist when you have no one. Perhaps a person’s family has all passed away. It might be that someone has made so many bad choices that they have pushed everyone else away.
Take joy in what you have.
After considering the lives of those who do not have, I hope that you have found a path to a happier life. Rather than dwelling on what you are missing, you need to embrace the parts of your life that give you hope and joy. Turn to the people that you know and tell them how much they mean to you. By doing this you will be embracing your happiness. Not only that, but you will be spreading it to everyone that you know. The best path to happiness is to make sure that others can share in your happiness so that your happiness as a group can make the other people you meet every day just a little bit happier as well.
